The Koforidua Circuit Court ‘A’ has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Justice Quintin-Sey, who posed as a Canadian diplomat to defraud several businessmen to the tune of over $63,000.
The suspect was arrested but has jumped bail hence the issuance of the bench warrant for his rearrest.
A statement issued by the Eastern regional Police Command and signed by the outgoing Public Relations Officer, ASP Yaw Nketia -Yeboah explained that, the fugitive defrauded George Kwabena Owusu and Daniel Foster Gbati both Contractors of Achievers Limited in Koforidua to the tune of $50,000 under the disguise of a Canadian Diplomat who will assist them in Financial Support services and also supply them with heavy duty Vehicles such as Tipper trucks and Earthmoving machines.
The suspect in a similar modus operandi, collected Ghc54, 900 from Mr. Iddrisu Djawein Adam and Collins Bekai and 270 different artisans with various expertise under the pretext of employing them into a real Estate Development Project at Abonse-Akuapem which never materialized.
According to the ASP Nketia-Yeboah, after the victims reported the case to the Police, the Police proceeded to track the suspect.
He was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on April 4, 2016 after the Police had information that he was arriving from Dubai.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was not a foreign diplomat but rather stayed in Takoradi in the Western region.
The suspect was subsequently granted police enquiry bail but failed to appear before court on the scheduled date.
Later, the Volta Regional Director of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Nuertey came to the regional Police Headquarters to plead for an amicable settlement of the case which was granted but the settlement couldn’t materialize and the suspect has since them absconded .
Police say, intelligence gathered indicate that the suspect is hiding in Accra and defrauding several unsuspecting persons with a similar modus operandi.
