The government of Ghana have finally paid for the cost of surgery for former national welterweight champion, Isaac Aryee who was hit by a Policeman while riding a motor bike.
Deputy Minister of Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide paid a visit to the boxer last week and promised that government will pay for the full cost (GHC 14,000) of Aryee’s surgery.
Aryee went through a successful surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and on Thursday the deputy Sports Minister was at the hospital on behalf of government to pay for the full cost of the injured boxer’s surgery.
“We wish to appreciate the services of the medical staff for taking good care of the boxer. So after the surgery we are here to fulfil the promise and hope the surgery was successful since he is a national asset,” the deputy Sports Minister told Starr Sports
Meanwhile, former sports Minister Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije had earlier paid an amount of GHC1000 for the upkeep of the pugilist to the family.
