The Zongo Community in Secondi in the Western region is in turmoil as indigenes there clashed Thursday afternoon leading to scores suffering from knife wounds.
At least five people have suffered severe knife wounds, according to Starrfmonline.com sources. The cause of the mayhem is immediately not known.
Confirming the incident to Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene Djan Friday June 2, 2017, the Sekondi District Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Tetteh said he received a distress call from three indigenes of the community reporting an attack at the Central Mosque in Sekondi.
He thus led a team to the Central Mosque to uphold law and order there. He added that statements have been taken from three of the injured.
According to him, the investigations are at the preliminary levels and that “top most for the police is to bring sanity to the community” and that the situation is under control.
Nonetheless, he assured that they will continue monitoring the situation to halt it from degenerating.
