Authorities of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality of the Central region are threatening to forcefully discharge some patients over what they call inadequate funds to cater for their health needs.

The facility according to the director of the hospital, Dr. Eugene Dordoye is overstretched as government is failing to fulfil its financial obligation in taking care of the patients under their care.

The hospital, he says owes a lot of creditors huge amount of monies and may risk court action if their indebtedness is not addressed.

He added that the administration is not in any position to continue to provide free care to the inmates hereby necessitating the critical measure of sending some patients home in order to be able to cater for those patients with critical needs.

Speaking to Starr News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, the director of the hospital indicated that over 100 patients risk being kicked out of the hospital as the hospital cannot continue to bear their cost of feeding and overall care administered to them.
