Four persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal road accident that occurred Friday evening at the Nsawam bypass stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern region.
The accident occurred when a Ford Salon car with registration number GR 5406 W run into a parked Kia Rhino Truck with registration number -AS 2822-16.
Four out of the five passengers onboard the Ford Salon Car died on the spot. The deceased include three adult females and a male. One person is in a critical condition at the Nsawam government hospital . The identity of the deceased are yet to be known by police .
It took the intervention of a joint rescue team to pull out the disfigured victims who were trapped in the mangled vehicle.
Confirming the accident to Starr News, the Nsawam Municipal Crime officer, ASP Kofi Sarkodie explained that the KIA Rhino Truck which was not faulty was properly parked along the shoulders of the road but the Ford Salon car which was from Accra heading to the Nkawkaw direction ran into it .
Police suspect the driver of the Private car who is part of the deceased was speeding .
ASP Sarkodie explained the driver of the Kia Rhino Truck identified as Seth Klu Abubakari cannot be held liable for any offence after preliminary investigation .
He said the Nsawam Police is, however, investigating the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
