Appiah Stadium, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) serial caller, has been granted police enquiry bail as investigations continue into his allegation that President Akufo-Addo is a “drug addict.”
The NDC activist, born as Frank Kwaku Appiah, was picked up on Tuesday in Kumasi and was subsequently transferred to the CID Headquarters in Accra for interrogation.
He was charged for inciting people to riot and peddling falsehood contrary to Section 2(7) and 2(8) of the Criminal Offences Act 29.
Appiah Stadium has since rendered an apology to President Akufo-Addo over his utterances.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NDC Asiedu Nketia has questioned the basis of the apology.
“Akufo-Addo has not cleared himself after Wikileaks said he smokes wee so I believe it,” Mr. Nketia said on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
“The NPP repealed the Criminal Libel Law so everyone is at liberty to speak his mind and make any allegation against anyone so Appiah Stadium has not done anything wrong to warrant an invitation from the National Security,” he added.
He has advised Akufo-Addo to clear his name in court.
