The Black Stars of Ghana restored their hopes of making it to Russia after whitewashing the Red Devils of Congo by 5-1 in the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign at the Kintele Stadium in Brazzaville on Tuesday.
Midfielder Thomas Partey grabbed an amazing hat-trick with his first in the 27th, second in the 45th and the third in the 69th minute of proceedings
Real Star Belgrade striker, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, who replaced injured captain Asamoah Gyan, also grabbed a remarkable brace on his return to the national team.
Yiadom poked home the opener on 22 minutes after some pinball in the penalty area connecting from close range before increasing his tally to two in the 85th minute.
Vladis-Emmerson Illoy-Ayyet grabbed the much-needed consolation for Congo from a powerful header in the 42nd minute after a well-delivered cross from Bahamboula. The goal, however, brought the home fans back to light but failed to increase their tally.
The result keeps Ghana at third position in the group with 5 points from four matches.
Ghana will next play Uganda in the World Cup qualifiers as they hope to make yet another World Cup appearance.
