The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party has suggested that some political opponents might have infilterated their ranks and are causing mayhem across the nation.
According to him, not all the elements besieging state institutions and locking up facilities are members of the party.
“Not all the people misbehaving are NPP elements,” Awuku told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday, “there is a political aspect to what is happening. We cannot say those doing these things are all NPP youth.”
He, however, denied knowledge of youth groups affiliated to the party such as ‘Burma Camp’ stating that the party only recognizes the Delta Forces and Invisible Forces.
Mr. Awuku, who is also the Board Chairman of the Youth Enterprise Agency said the NPP government is doing everything possible to halt the rampaging youth of the party.
His comments come as activities of political vigilantism appears to be spiralling out of control in the country.
Over the last few months, vigilante groups associated with the NPP have carried out over 20 onslaughts on state institutions and government appointees over their dissatisfaction with some appointments among other reservations.
But Mr. Awuku assured that that activities of the party’s vigilante groups will be nipped in the bud in a few months.
“Vigilantism is a matter we will deal with in a matter of months,” Mr. Awuku said.
