Tolon Regent Major Sulemana has given the Northern regional minister, Salifu Saeed, a two-week ultimatum to ensure the headmaster of the only Senior High School in the area Madam Achina is expelled.
The Regent has threatened to eject the headmaster from the district if his threat goes unheeded.
The ex-soldier-turned traditional ruler who did not elaborate the basis for his demand and the fashion he conveyed the ultimatum to the minister noted they have both had discussions over the matter earlier.
“Tell him (the president) we are not noisy but we stand firm when we reject something. I told you the last time when you came that I hate something. I have given you two weeks, if you don’t react, I will react. We don’t like her; if you don’t take her away we will beat her out,” the regent said in the local Dagbani language.
Madam Achina has come under severe pressure to leave the school. The regent prevented an attack on her last academic year when the youth accused her of charging unapproved fees and rejecting natives posted to the school.
Assemblymember for Nayilifong confirmed the regent was referring to the headmistress of the School.
Ibrahim Suale added that Madam Achina was “abusing the system with a lot of mishaps”.
“Just last week she called a parent-teacher meeting and levied each parent GH51 which is a contradiction to the Free Senior High School policy”.
Major Sulemana was speaking after the DCE-nominee for the area was confirmed by the assembly members.
The DCE, Hajia Yakubu Balchisu pulled record-breaking votes of 33 against just a single NO vote.
Tolon became the last district in the Northern region to get a DCE because the Regent roundly rejected and vow not to accept the president’s nominee Hajia Amamata, the regional women organizer of the NPP.
