Dave Ramsey, a Personal Money-Management and Business Expert has praised persuasional leadership as more effective than positional leadership.

In his view, a leader who is able to persuade a team around a course or vision is healthy and must be the preferred kind of leadership for the next generation.

“Potential power does not make an individual a leader; it just makes them a boss. As a leader one must have power but seldom use it. A leader’s education, character, capacity and vision are limiting their organizations,” he noted at a conference organised by  Live2Lead in Accra.

He added: “If leaders are not approachable, visionary, honest, and passionate and determined rather they are no leaders. Organisations are never limited by their opportunity; they are limited by their leader. Nobody needs to be born a leader but individuals could develop themselves to become leaders. Vision is one of the invisible qualities every leader needs to have, adding that leaders needed to be creative in providing leadership to their people”.

A guest at the event, Professor Stephen Adei, the Former Rector of GIMPA said leadership is all about serving the people you lead and each individual has the duty to develop the qualities of a leader, because everybody is a leader in their own rights.

He said as Ghanaians: “we should start thinking together how we can develop our leadership qualities in readiness to lead the country into prosperity.”

Live2Lead conference is a full-day leadership and personal growth event is held LIVE in Atlanta and was simulcast in 300 locations and in over 30 countries including Ghana by the John Maxwell Company. The event was hosted in Ghana by Centre for Transformational Leadership in Africa (CTL Africa).
