President Akufo Addo has directed the defence minister, Dominic Nitiwul, to deploy soldiers to tackle ferocious activities of land guards and nomadic Fulani herdsman in Ghana.

The activities of nomadic Fulani herdsman and land guards in the country have been identified as a major security threat which need military intervention to arrest it.

Mr. Nitiwul who is on a two-day working visit to Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regional military installations and the Kumasi central command of the Ghana Armed Forces disclosed  that the soldiers are expected to work with civilian police personnel to strength security in the country to control activities of armed robbers as the festive season draws nearer.

The minister was also full of praise for the success of Operation Vanguard team constituted by government to halt destructive activities of illegal miners whose operations became a threat on the country’s vegetation cover and river bodies.

According to the defence minister, the water bodies polluted by miners are now clean and the reason Ghana no longer receives regular complaints from the government of Ivory Coast over pollution of their water bodies.
