Ghana’s number one golfer, Vincent Torgah, who plies his trade in Nigeria, with no doubt, is the best in the West Africa sub-region after his recent exploits in Cote d’Ivoire and the Nigeria Masters.
Torgah has accumulated three consecutive victories over the last one month, Nigeria @57 in October in Port Harcourt, the Ivory Coast Open two weeks ago and the eventual Nigeria Masters in Abuja.
Some schools of thought have argued that, “Torgah is having a field day because some of the big boys like Oche Odoh, Sunday Odegha, Sunday Olapade among others whom we know in PGA of Nigeria are not participating in WAGT.”
Others said, “This is just Torgah’s time to shine. Even when we have the full house of PGA of Nigeria taking part in WAGT, he was a force to reckon with; again, the Ivory Coast Open victory proves he is in fine form and he should maintain it.”
At the just concluded Nigeria Master over the weekend, Torgah scored one over par after 72 holes to emerge winner of the second edition of the tournament.
The Ghanaian started the tournament with +3 on the first day had a tremendous improvement going into the second round with +1, continued round 3 with a course par and ended the tournament with – 3.
Cameroonian Pristhy Nji, Desire Ebele and Issa Nlareb came second, third and fourth position respectively
