Government says it is partnering academia to churn out more business focus research to aid policy making and planning.
According to the Business Development Minister, Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, many businesses fail to expand due to lack of proper research to aid decision making.
Speaking to Starr Business at the Executive Doctoral Research Conference, Ibrahim Awal Mohammed said, government will provide all the necessarily support to keep SMEs efficient and productive.
“As a government we are determined to make Ghanaian business competitive. One way of doing it is to make sure that there is evidence, there is information; so we are collaborating with academia and encouraging them to give us their facts and findings. You cannot take decision based on your whims”
“You should take decision based on evidence. We think that academia collaborating with industry and government, give us facts and figure, we can take decision and impact the lives of our people positively. That is what we want to do; we want a collaboration between academia, government and businesses to help us solve our unemployment challenges”, Mr. Awal Mohammed said.
The conference was on the theme: ‘Applying evidence based research to effective management.’
On his part, the President of the Nobel International Business School, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima added that, research must be a constant feature in every business to aid growth.
