Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has revealed that an estimated amount of GHC864, 000 was spent on only accommodation for former Black Stars coach, Avram Grant for two years.
At the National Sports Fund Consultation Forum in Accra on Wednesday, Asiamah, in his keynote address revealed that Ghana had been spending $8,000 (equivalent to GHC 36,000) every month on accommodation for the former Chelsea coach.
The Sports Minister who was explaining the rationale behind his outfit’s bold step to secure an official residence for current Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah.
“When I realised that we’re spending $8000 a month on accommodation for Black Stars coaches, I was overwhelmed, hence our decision to acquire an official residence for the national team coach to save the country the huge amount we have been pumping in,” Isaac Asiamah told the press.
This means the Sports Ministry spent a total of GHC864,000 ($192000) on accommodation alone for former Ghana coach Avram Grant who lived in a hotel for his entire two-year stay in the country.
Now with the new residence acquired, this means Coach Kwesi Appiah will be the first to occupy it.
