Members of the Ghana Committed Drivers association are heading to the Hajj village near the airport police station to “forcibly” release their vehicles which they claim have been unfairly impounded by the Accra Metropolitan taskforce.
The taskforce which operates around the airport arrests drivers who park recklessly around the airport and its surroundings.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday, chairman of the drivers association Charles Danso accused the taskforce of extorting monies from the drivers.
“So a driver stops at the airport to inquire from a security guard and he is arrested and fined for illegal parking. We don’t know any rules on unlawful parking at the airport. We’ve reported the issue to the Airport and Tesano Police Stations and nothing has been done about it. We were told by the police that the time these unwarranted arrests would stop is 2020,” he bemoaned.
