Waste Management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has commemorated this year’s African Union day with a mammoth health walk from the Ayi Mensah toll both to the Peduase lodge in the Eastern region to keep staff of the company and their families fit and advocate healthy living among Ghanaians.
The 13-kilometer walk witnessed staff of Zoomlion and other subsidiary companies from the Jospong group walk amidst music and merry making.
Ghana’s fitness ambassador, Miss Beatrice Afful (B-the Bully) walked along with staff and led staff through some aerobics session to help reduce the risks of heart diseases, high blood pressure and type -2 diabetes.
The Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana limited, Mrs Florence Larbi who was present at the event in a short address indicated Zoomlion’s commitment to keeping Africa clean, green and healthy.
She added that Zoomlion as one of Africa’s leading waste management company believes that a united continent of Africa developing its own capacity to solve its own problem is the surest way to unearth the huge prospects of the continent.
She urged Ghanaians to adhere to environmental cleanliness and developed positive attitude of keeping the environment clean.
The Corporate Affairs and Communications Director of Zoomlion, Mrs Emma Akyea-Boakye in an interview espoused the health benefits of health walks to the body and the need for staff to gain the needed stamina to deliver on its mandate of making Ghana a clean country.
She indicated that the health needs of staff of Zoomlion is paramount hence the organization of such events which brings together health officials to undertake routine health screening for staff.
