Alexander Afenyo Markin has made u-turn in his relationship with the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Mawutor Avoke claiming he is now building a better relationship with the dismissed academic.
The revelation comes on the back of the latest clash between the Efutu MP and the new Vice Chancellor of the university Rev. Father Afful-Broni, whom he back for the post, after Professor Avoke was removed last year.
“Avoke and I have had a good dinner. He has conceded where he went wrong. Avoke and I had a good discussion. I have said and I repeat that steps are being taken for proper reconciliation. Why would Afful-Broni want to sack someone for opposing him. I am not a perfect being, I have never been perfect but I will always ensure the right things are done,” he told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday.
A lecturer at the university Alhassan Salifu Bawah has accused the MP of interfering in the management of the school among other obstructions.
Accordingly to him, the threats and calls by Mr. Afenyo Markin for the resignation of the Vice Chancellor are misplaced since the VC has committed no crime especially in applying the status in sacking some lecturers and officers from the finance department of the University’s administrative set up, who had engaged in acts of malfeasance.
He stressed that the fabrications against the VC are due to the fact that he has refused to do the bidding of the MP as the MP wants to take over contracts and recruitment and procurement issues at the University.
