Starr FM’s Gender 101 program on the Morning Starr has been awarded by the Gender ministry over its sole focus on women development.
According to the ministry, the program gives attention to the least understood aspect of gender and how policymakers can use that understanding to inform decisions on the national level.
The recognition was made on Sunday March 8 as the nation joined the rest of the world to mark International Women’s Day
A citation on the award read: “Your program, Gender 10I which seeks to place discussions of gender in a proper context, that is, educating your listeners that gender is not just about women clamouring for attention and position and not only about men having the upper hand in society but rather a holistic conversation about how we can better understand the social construct called gender is highly educative.
“The program gives attention to the least understood aspects of gender and how Governments, Policymakers and Stakeholders can use that understanding to inform decisions on national development”.
Morning Starr host Francis Abban and producer of the segment Regina Borle Bortey received the award on behalf of the station.
