The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has warned health workers in the Eastern region to desist from talking to the media in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
A statement signed by the Eastern regional directorate of the GHS said: ” Anyone found to have given information to the media on covid-19 without the express permission of the regional health directorate will have his or herself to blame”.
The directive comes in the wake of calls by various health workers for government to supply them with PPEs. Some nurses at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital days ago threatened to abandon their posts over lack of PPEs.
Government however says it is procuring more PPEs for staff of health institutions across the country.
Meanwhile, former President John Mahama has donated PPEs and other materials to all regional health facilities in the country.
