Resurrection Power New Generation Church has donated One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund established by government to support the efforts of the state to mitigate the impacts of the outbreak of the Coronavirus on the needy and vulnerable in the country.
Founder and General Overseer of the Church, Rev. Dr. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, in the company of his wife, Rev. Margaret Boakye, presented their cheque to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Chief Justice (Rtd) Sophia Akuffo, at a brief ceremony at the Point Six, Jubilee House office complex of the fund.
Rev. Kwadwo Boakye in a brief statement before presenting the cheque noted that the Church, which is based in Kasoa in the Central Region, is delighted to contribute her widow’s might to support the mandate of the Trust Fund. He assured the trustees that God will see Ghana through the Covid-19 crisis peacefully.
SDA Church
The Seventh Day Adventist Church, through the head of the Church, Pastor Dr. Thomas Techie Ocran, presented their cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) to the fund. Pastor Ocran, while presenting their contribution stated that the entire SDA congregation in Ghana is backing the state and the President with prayers as the nation battles the Covid-19 pandemic.
Other Donations
Other institutions and organizations that presented donations included the Customs Brookers Association – Ghana (CUBAG). The presentation of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 10,000.00) was done by the Acting President of the Association, Daniel A. K. Nanor.
Engineering, Construction and Development Company Limited (EDC), through Elizabeth Ayim, an official of the company presented One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis, (GHc 100,000.00), to the fund.
Saham Group (Sanlan Foundation of South), a Life and General Insurance Company, through the Chairpersons of the Board, Michael Hamenoo (Life) and Fred Apaloo (General Insurance), came through with their cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00).
The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners, ably represented by its National President, Envangelist Collins Osei Kusi, submitted a contribution of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00), to the fund to support its mandate as by law established.
Chairperson of the Covid-19 BoT
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the Covid-19 National Trust Fund, Chief Justice (Rtd) Sophia Akuffo, extended the appreciation of the fund, the state and the entire country to all the donors. She assured them that the fund will be rolling out a comprehensive programme that will give a vivid account of the implementation plan of the fund and how it intends to make use of all the revenue available to it. The fund, she added, will ensure judicious use of all the resources available to it.
