Renowned philanthropist Hassan Zein has described as lies a story which was published by an Accra-based newspaper that he has been arrested.
Those behind the lies are seeking to cover a defilement case haunting them, adding that these persons have embarked upon a smear campaign against him in the past three years.
His only fault is that he accepted the National Chief Imam’s invitation to him to come and mediate in the case leveled against the Yemeni family, who he said are behind the machinations.
He said he will resort to the court to seek redress.
The renowned philanthropist, who is a Ghanaian with a Lebanese ancestry, has sued his attackers in two different High Courts in Ghana and has obtained an interlocutory judgment in one of the cases pending at the Accra High Court and another of such cases pending at the Kwabenya Court.
The Kwabenya Court had issued a Bench Warrant for the arrest of the alleged rapist and nine other members of his family, five declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service.
Justice Abdulai of Crown Legal Bureau confirmed that indeed, his client is a well-focused man, decent and unshaken by the attempt to smear his reputation simply because of his attempt to represent Sheikh Sharabutu and do the task assigned him by His Eminence.
Those seeking to defame him, he added in a statement, have links in Mali and are engaging some media outlets in that country to continue their campaign against him. Continuing, he said judgment was made against his detractors within six months that the case landed on the desks of the judiciary in that country.
The lawyers said he and his client were amazed to see publications from the client’s attackers when they are rather the ones with several criminal complaints against them at various police stations in the country.
