Hannah Newman Conduah has always been a creative think-out-the-box person. The US-based Ghanaian’s creative skills date to Secondary School, where she spearheaded programs and coached her dance team for events. Carving a niche for herself as a content creator, Hannah Newman Conduah makes original content guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of her audience.
Hannah began her journey in 2018 solely by creating content for YouTube. After a short break, Hannah returned at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, expanding her work to the short-form video platform TikTok. Creating content for YouTube and TikTok, Hannah Newman Conduah recalled learning how to edit videos, incorporate transitions, and put out unique content. “I had so much fun creating content but Whew! TikTok gave me a run for my money,” she told journalist Ella Okunmwendia before attributing the mastering of her skills to YouTube tutorials.
For Hannah Newman Conduah, her inspiration comes from daily activities. She also taps inspiration from other content creators but chooses to add a personal twist to it. Describing her process as stoical, Hannah revealed she puts down all her ideas and builds her scenes around them. “I don’t simply get into action because I got an Aha moment,” she further explained. Hannah Newman Conduah assumes several roles from actress, producer, and designer to ensure her content is relatable and quality.
Hannah Newman Conduah believes “everything is possible with little resources in this millennial era.” She uses a camera, phone, laptop, and many software and apps to create her content. Her tip when creating is, “If it makes me laugh, it’s good content.”
Comparing the work of content creators in Ghana to those in the US, Hannah Newman Conduah stated there was not much difference. She, however, mentioned US creators’ accessibility to props and costumes as an advantage over their Ghanaian counterparts. As a Ghanaian living abroad, Hannah is mindful of the diversity of her audience. “The typical Ghanaian sense of humor may not appeal to a foreigner and vice versa,” she explained to Ella Okunmwendia.
For Hannah Newman Conduah, the fun of collaborations is sharing ideas and interacting with other people as it “brings out a different level of inspiration and “crazies.” She believes collaborations are more about great content than who the creator is. With plans to further develop her content creation skills and grow her brand, Hannah defines her highest moment as the reach of her videos. “I mean little old Hannah Newman with a 2.5 million reach, that sends me over the moon.” “The wider the reach, the bigger my smile,” she said and concluded, “God’s Plans are my future plans.”
