Dr. Nsia-Asare is the Former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service

The residents of La say they doubt the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration will ever start and complete the demonished La General Hospitation in Accra.

According to the resident, they have been deceived by the numerous promises by the government to reconstruct the only hospital that serves the enclave.

Government in 2020 demolished old structures of the La general Hospital over concerns the structures were dilapidated and promised the residents to reconstruct an ultra-modern hospital for the enclave.

However three years down the line, work on the hospital project is yet to begin.

However speaking on State Affair on GHOne TV, the Presidential advisor on health Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has assured that the reconstruction of La General Hospital will be completed before December 2024.

He explained that the project faced some financing constraints hence has been absorbed into the ongoing agenda 111 project to ensure it is completed in line with the agenda 111 target of 2024.

Commenting on the development on Starr Today with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, the spokesperson for the Coalition of La Youth, Jeffery Tetteh stated that they doubt the government will walk the talk.

“You see, my problem is to come clean and tell the people something. You are always hiding behind the media façade and throwing out things without coming to the chiefs and people. The same people you came to see before and deceived. You cannot come and tell them and say we are sorry for what has happened.

“You know what we have realized is that some officials from the ruling government have started pouring in around to come and campaign for their bid to lead the party for their presidency. We shall patiently be waiting for them to come to La and campaign, because all of you are officials within the same government,” Mr. Tetteh stated.

He continued: “We are not confident at all in fact we are pessimistic on that. It is a way of deceiving us. So please if they have anything to say they should come to the Chiefs and people apologize to them. When they apologize then they can come up with any excuse again then we will be able to listen to them.”
