President Akufo-Addo inspecting the design of the National Cathedral created by David Adjaye

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has advised President Akufo-Addo to complete the National Cathedral project and name it after J. B Danquah.

This follows President Akufo-Addo once again stating that it will not be out of place for the University of Ghana (UG) to be renamed after a member of the Big Six, Joseph Boakye Danquah.

The President giving a speech during the 75th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the University Ghana (UG) indicated that such a move will honor J.B Danquah for his contribution in the establishment of the University.

Commenting on the matter, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that the move to revise history of Ghana would loosen after January 7th 2025.

“Complete your cathedral and name it after him wai. Your agenda to revise the history of Ghana in favour of your clan is bound to unravel after January 7th, 2025. Ghana’s true history will be reinstated,” Dr. Apaak stated in a tweet.

However, President Akufo-Addo said the legacy of JB Danquah warrant the naming of University of Ghana after him.

“Indeed, in many other jurisdictions where there is less heart in their politics and more attachment to the fact of historical record, it would not have been out of place to have this University named after him. Who knows, one day it may well happen,” he added.
