The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George has described as baseless the call to review Dr. Omane Boamah’s position as National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director for ICT ahead of the 2024 election.
A social activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Delanyo Agbe has called on the Council of Elders of the party to review the appointment of Dr. Omane Boamah as Director of Election and ICT.
According to him, the former Minister for Communication lacks some ICT expertise considering his medical back does not seem to align with the intricate technicalities of ICT and the complexities of electoral processes.
In a letter to the NDC Council of Elders, the Ningo-Prampram lawmaker stated that those people have the right to disagree on appointments that right must be exercised based on facts and evidenced by substance.
“The point made by the petitioner is vague. It needs to establish what credibility risk arises by appointing Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah (A former Minister for Communications and former Deputy Minister in two ministries between 2009 and 2013).
“A suggestion that “appointing an individual without substantial experience in the field could undermine the party’s credibility and tarnish its reputation” cannot apply to the appointee,” Mr. Nartey narrated.
He continued: “I have established above a summary of the appointee’s experience and competencies, and as such, I am confident that this fear would not materialise as the appointee is well suited to ensure we are not saddled with such challenges.”
