On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the solemn funeral ceremonies in honor of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedro III were held at the Ga Mantse’s Palace in Kaneshie, Accra.
The event was organized in a lively manifestation of the rich Ga culture.
The funeral grounds were elegantly adorned in the color of red, casting a poignant ambiance. Thousands of mourners, both from the Ga state and well-wishers, gathered to bid their final farewells to the late Naa Dedei Omaedro III.
In a heartwarming gesture, President Akufo-Addo graced the occasion and made a generous donation of GH¢100,000 to support the funeral proceedings.
This noble act of the nation’s collective respect and admiration was displayed for the departed Ga Manye.
The Traditional Council, along with the entire Ga State, mourned the loss of the esteemed Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedro III. Her legacy is one to be celebrated, marked by years of dedicated service and her unwavering commitment to the betterment of her community.
Ghanaians from all corners of the country joined in celebrating her 59-year reign, which was characterized by a resolute dedication to peacebuilding, education, and the creation of opportunities for all under her leadership.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) demonstrated their solidarity by contributing GH¢10,000 to the funeral activities, highlighting the unity and respect for tradition that characterizes the community.
Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedro III, reigned for 59 remarkable years before her passing in December 2022. Her absence leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who cherished and respected her leadership.
