2024 Polls: Volta NDC Secretary urges branch executives to be in readiness

The Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, James Gunu is urging the party’s branch executives across the Volta region to ready themselves for the 2024 parliamentary and presidential election campaign.

According to Mr. Gunu, the party needs every single individual to propagate its messages to the generality of the Ghanaian population as it aims to return to government by winning the upcoming election.

To recapture power, the former Akatsi North DCE, said branch executives must ensure that a lot of voters who voted for the NPP in the various communities in 2020 return to join the NDC, a party he refers to as their mother party.

Mr. Gunu made the remarks during a meeting with members of his branch at Nudowukope in the Akatsi North District on Thursday, 7th December, 2023.

The meeting was intended to serve a notice to party folks on the task ahead exactly a year away from the 2024 general elections.

“Today is 7th December, 2023 which marks exactly one year away from next year’s election, so it is important party members, especially our branch executives are reminded of how significant the day is and also about the task ahead,” he said.

“Election 2024 is about redeeming Ghana and restoring hope for each and everyone, thus the need to ensure everyone gets involved to bring back our NDC parliamentarians and John Mahama as President to help transform this country.”

As a former DCE, Mr. Gunu recounted several developments that took place under the erstwhile John Mahama administration noting that roads, schools and water projects that started in some communities in the District have all stalled since the party left government and promised that the next NDC government will prioritize the completion of such projects.

The Akatsi North Constituency Secretary, Abraham Ahiabu in his remarks, urged the branch executives to do “house cleaning” in order to keep the party united at all levels ahead of the elections.

Mr. Ahiabu also commended the branch executives for organizing the meeting and indicated that same will be replicated across the constituency to ensure the party attracts every single person to win the general elections.
