The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged Ministers from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to commence the preparation of their transition documents.
Speaking to reporters at the NDC Headquarters in Accra, the National Chairman emphasized that the NDC would refrain from extending congratulations to any election winner if the victory is marred by violence.
“The wisest thing for NPP Ministers to do now is to start preparing their handing over notes. They will fail in their attempt to hold on to power, and we will take over the governance of this country and the nation will remain peaceful.
“We will not congratulate anybody who murders Ghanaians to win,” Mr. Nketiah stated.
The National Chairman also called on the Election Commission of Ghana to take steps in replacing lost voter ID cards of places affected by the recent floods,
We strongly and unconditionally call for a special program to replace lost voter ID cards in the areas affected by flood in the Volta Basin. This was an avoidable humanitarian crisis occasioned by mismanagement of the dams. The victims have suffered enough of this government’s neglect.
”Additionally, the NDC has discovered serious discrepancies between the Final Voters Register the EC issued out to the Political Parties prior to the 2020 election, based upon which ballot papers were printed and the actual register used on the day of voting in selected polling stations in certain constituencies. Currently, this revelation is being studied thoroughly across the country. Our full findings will be made public soon,” Mr. Nketiah stated.
