The Office of the Special Prosecutor has halted its investigations against former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah.
Madam Dapaah for the past 7 months has been under investigation by the OSP over suspicion of corruption and corruption related offences after starch of cash was found in her homes.
Addressing the media, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng disclosed the investigations which involved the FBI has revealed the case bothers on money laundering and structuring.
The Office, according to Mr. Agyebeng has consequently referred the matter to EOCO which has the mandate over such crimes.
“By the operation of law the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has a specific and direct mandate in respect of suspected money laundering and its attendant activity structure. Consequently, the Office of the Special Prosecutor is referring the case to EOCO for continued investigation and further action, Mr. Agyabeng stated.
The SP however indicated the former minister has not been cleared of the corruption and corruption related suspicions which triggered the investigations in the first place.
Kissi Agyebeng further warned his office will continue to go after individuals who use money to induce voters in internal or national elections even in student elections.
He added the actions of the office in that regard has put some fear in politicians thereby reducing the phenomenon.
