The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto spokesperson on energy, Mr. Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku says the current NPP administration has made significant efforts to address the challenges in Ghana’s energy sector.
Former President John Mahama has criticized the current administration for not giving the energy sector the attention it deserves.
He also accused the NPP administration of intending to pass on the problem to the next government, which could have dire consequences.
But, speaking on the Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Mr. Kwawo Poku in response to these accusations, emphasized that there is a maximum effort needed to resolve the issues in the energy sector.
“There is maximum effort to resolve this problem. I think that every government, led by its leader, has its own approach. Nana Addo had an approach. He came in and inherited private sector participation through the Millennium PDS.
“Government is continuous. I don’t think anybody will intentionally tiptoe around the problem and pass it on,” he stated.
Mr. Kwadwo Poku further stated that the current administration has done better in the energy sector than Mahama’s administration, especially with the provision of electricity.
“What this government has done is, amidst all the difficulties that the energy sector has, it has managed this sector better than the NDC,” he asserted.
The spokesperson also emphasized that any government that comes into power must be ready to inherit and address existing problems.
“If you are not ready to inherit the problem, then do not come to government,” he stated.
