The Private School Owners Association Greater Accra Region has formally rallied behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, John Mahama ahead of the upcoming polls.
The association said the ruling government had abandoned them in implementing signature education programs including the Free Senior High School policy.
It noted that former President Mahama will review the program to accommodate private second cycle institutions in order to cushion them in a financially difficult environment.
“Under the current NPP government, private schools have been neglected in critical national policies, including the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative. This exclusion has placed an undue burden on private schools, leading to significant financial challenges and, in some cases, the unfortunate closure of several institutions.
“John Dramani Mahama has pledged to address these concerns head-on. He has assured the Private School Owners Association that, when elected into office, he will take bold steps to include private schools in the FSHS policy.
“This inclusive approach will not only alleviate the financial struggles of private schools but also foster healthy competition and ensure that every Ghanaian student, regardless of their school type, benefits from government support,” the press release declaring their endorsement read.
The private school owners were of the view that it was only Mr. Mahama who could “revive and strengthen the private education sector and restore the dignity and sustainability” of their schools.
