Private legal practitioner and a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah has expressed concern over the numerous promises made by presidential candidates in the upcoming election, warning that the financial implications could exacerbate Ghana’s economic challenges.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, Mr. Jantuah predicted a difficult financial outlook for Ghana between 2025 and 2028 and voiced apprehension about the feasibility of fulfilling the candidates’ pledges.
“2025-2028 is not going to be an easy time financially for this country; a lot of the flag bearers are promising over above what I think they can afford,” he stated.
Mr. Jantuah criticized the lack of transparency regarding the financial implications of the various manifestos. He emphasized the absence of clear plans for funding the proposed initiatives.
“Nobody has told us how much their manifestos are going to cost us; no one is telling us where the money will come from. I find it difficult to see how the promises being made are going to be financed,” he remarked.
He concluded that this lack of financial clarity and the disconnect between the promises made and Ghana’s current financial realities would likely result in leaving uncompleted projects by this government behind.
