The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has pledged to establish cocoa processing factories in the Western North Region when elected president.
During a community engagement in Enchi, in the Aowin constituency, the former president said the establishment of the factory forms part of the NDC’s industrial strategy to boost local Agro-processing and create value-added products within the region.
He explained the initiative is aimed at supporting economic growth and providing job opportunities and wealth creation for the people in the area.
“Instead of processing our cocoa outside into chocolate and bringing it back to the country, we want the cocoa processing factory to come to where we grow the cocoa”, he said.
In preparation towards the December 7 elections, Mahama is currently in the Western North Region as part of his two-day campaign tour. He is expected to meet chiefs, local authorities, and opinion leaders, as well as interact with party supporters and residents.
