The University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate on Thursday November 7th launched the University of Ghana Community Games at a ceremony held at the auditoruim of the UG Rugby stadium. The Community Games will see 8 participating teams; the College of Humanities, the College of Health Science, UG Alumini Association, College of Education, Central Administration, the College of Basic and Applied Science, the Union Ghana and the University of Ghana Enterprises Ltd compete in the 1-day tournament designed for staff and students of the unions.
Director of the Sports and Wellness Directorate at the University, Dr. Austin Luguterah who spoke at the launch said the idea of the Community Games bore from a thought that led to meaningful deliberations with his team.
Dr. Luguterah added that the Community Games is aimed at bringing the business community, the UG Alumini Association and the sports industry closer to the University.
The Community Games is scheduled for Saturday 16th November 2024 at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium and will feature football and a number of indoor games. The university has plans for a football league to take place next year for students and staff.
