The Supreme Court has declared as unconstitutional the declaration of four seats vacant in Parliament by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin on October 17, 2024.
In a 5-2 majority decision, the Apex Court said the action filed by Alexander Afenyo-Markin succeeds.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo who presided over the case said their reasons would be ready on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Apart from the Chief Justice, Justice Mariama Owusu, Justice Samuel Asiedu, Justice Ernest Gaewu, and Justice Yaw Darko Asare were all part of the majority who granted the request.
While Justice Amadu Omoro Issifu Tanko ans Justice Avril Lovelace-Johnson dissented.
