Kpando Hearts of Lions have moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after defeating defending champions Samartex FC 1-0 in a thrilling match in Samreboi. Striker Nana Kwame Oppong scored the only goal of the game in the 2nd minute, setting the tone for the match.
Samartex responded strongly, creating numerous chances, but goalkeeper Lawrence Osei stood tall for the Lions with brilliant saves, securing the win for the Kpando lads.
The Lions now lead the table with 24 points, boasting a superior goal difference over Bibiani Gold Stars, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Karela United.
Other results in the Ghana Premier League saw Accra Lions defeat Nations FC 1-0, while new boys Basake Holy Stars stunned fellow newcomers Young Apostles with a 3-0 victory. Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars played to a goalless draw, while Legon Cities lost 2-0 at home to Bechem United.
In Tema, Vision FC triumphed 3-2 over Medeama SC in a five-goal thriller, while Nsoatreman and Dreams FC settled for a 1-1 draw.
Kotoko will face Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
