The Ghana Police Service is investigating 88 individuals allegedly recruited from various parts of Accra to monitor elections in the Western North Region.
The individuals were intercepted on two Metro Mass Transit buses at Benchema near Asawinso on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
According to a police statement, the suspects were reportedly recruited by one Sammy from areas in the Greater Accra Region, including Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina, to provide security at polling stations in constituencies within the Western North Region.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
Authorities are also making strenuous efforts to locate Sammy, the individual who allegedly coordinated the recruitment, as part of the ongoing investigation.
