The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a final warning to candidates preparing for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), urging them to steer clear of all forms of examination malpractice.
The exams officially commence on Tuesday, August 5, and will run through to September 19, 2025.
A total of 461,640 candidates—comprising 207,381 males and 254,259 females—are expected to sit for the exams across 701 centres nationwide, representing a marginal 0.2% increase from the 2024 figures.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, August 4, Acting Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, called on students to uphold academic integrity and strictly follow examination guidelines.
“The examination will be conducted in approximately 701 centres across the country. As has been the norm, the Ghana Education Service (GES) will collaborate closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and relevant security agencies to ensure law and order throughout the examination period,” Prof. Davis stated.
He congratulated all candidates and urged them to prepare adequately while discouraging any reliance on leaked materials or assistance.
“Candidates are strongly advised not to rely on so-called ‘apor’ or any form of external assistance, as such help will not be available. We can assure the public that no such practices will be entertained. Any attempt to engage in examination malpractice will attract severe sanctions, and we caution all students to refrain from such conduct,” he warned.
Prof. Davis also confirmed that all logistical preparations had been completed, with practical scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
He cautioned invigilators and supervisors, stating that any individual found aiding in malpractice will face legal consequences.
“Let us all work together to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible examination process,” he concluded.
