The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has maintained its leadership in the Ghana’s 9th Parliament, with former minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, appointed as Majority Leader.
The decision to maintain the NDC’s frontbench leadership was made following a caucus meeting after the formal dissolution of the 8th Parliament at midnight on January 6, 2025.
This leadership continuity also aligns with President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s recommendation for Speaker Alban Bagbin to serve another term, solidifying his role as a unifying figure for the NDC and the broader legislative body.
Dr. Forson’s leadership team includes Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the MP for Ellembelle, who has transitioned from his previous role as Deputy Minority Leader to serve as Deputy Majority Leader.
Also maintaining their roles are Kwame Agbodza, the MP for Adaklu, who has been appointed Majority Chief Whip, continuing his crucial role in party discipline and legislative coordination.
Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, who previously served as Deputy Minority Chief Whip, has now been promoted to Deputy Majority Chief Whip, ensuring continuity in the NDC’s leadership structure.
