Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Dr. Goosie Tanoh, says the upcoming 24-hour economy policy reflects the collective aspirations of Ghanaians, beyond partisan considerations.
According to Dr. Tanoh, the Secretariat responsible for the policy has conducted extensive nationwide consultations, engaging citizens from diverse backgrounds to ensure the final document addresses the real needs and expectations of the people.
Speaking to the media on Monday, June 30, ahead of the official launch, Dr. Tanoh stressed that the time has come for Ghanaians to reject poverty and work towards realising the country’s vast economic potential.
While acknowledging that the implementation of the policy will come with challenges, Dr. Tanoh urged all stakeholders to embrace it as a shared national responsibility.
The government earlier confirmed that the much-anticipated 24-hour economy policy will be officially launched on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The policy, a flagship initiative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), aims to stimulate continuous economic activity, generate employment, and enhance national productivity.
It was a central campaign promise of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Tanoh confirmed the launch date during the presentation of the final policy document to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
The 24-hour economy policy is expected to play a key role in driving inclusive economic growth and transforming Ghana’s development trajectory.
