uniBank Ghana represented by Mr Richard Anane, Head of New Business Development, has presented a cheque of Gh¢20,000 to The Rheumatology Initiative (tRi Ghana), a medical NGO.
The amount is targeted at tRi Ghana’s Patient Assistance Program which offers emergency treatment for people with autoimmune conditions who cannot afford lifesaving treatment in times of crisis.
Receiving the donation, Dr. Dzifa Dey, director of tRi Ghana said “Autoimmune conditions can be expensive to treat and so we are very grateful to uniBank for their assistance. In some emergency cases, a thousand Cedis’ worth of treatment can prevent a young person from ending up with brain damage or chronic kidney disease which could require lifelong dialysis.
“To date, 50 such patients have benefited from support from this program. This money will go a long way to positively affect the lives of people with autoimmune conditions like lupus.”
The Rheumatology Initiative (tRi Ghana) is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 and dedicated to providing education, advocacy and research into the autoimmune rheumatic conditions like Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. tRi Ghana (trighana.org) provides support services to persons affected with these conditions and focuses on young persons who have to deal with such issues.
