Dr. Richardson Commey Fio, Deputy Director of the National Commission on Culture (NCC), has voiced his disapproval regarding the increasing trend of male content creators on TikTok engaging in cross-dressing.
He strongly condemned the act, stating it undermines the country’s cultural and moral values and is a direct assault on its foundational principles.
The NCC’s concerns reached a boiling point after a group of male content creators sparked controversy at the Ridge Condos All Black Party in Kumasi, where they openly dressed and accessorized in women’s clothing and attire.
He raised serious concerns about the development in an interview with Graphic Showbiz monitored by Starr fm.
“It is very disappointing that we continue to experience such behaviours that are an affront to our rich cultural values and norms.”
“What happened in Kumasi is a total disrespect to our Ghanaian culture and more directly an insult to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Manhyia, and all custodians of culture in the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large,” he added.
Dr. Fio also condemned those who use the excuse of globalization and modernity to justify actions that, he believes, undermine the moral foundations of Ghanaian culture and society.
