Voters looking to travel to various destinations across the country to cast their ballot have been left stranded at bus terminals in major cities as transport to make the journey has become unusually scarce.
Checks by GH One News revealed the unavailability of buses for long distance travels was rife in Accra and Kumasi.
At the VIP bus terminal at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, the GH One news team witnessed long queues of frustrated people who had filled the ticketing room to the brim.
Some of the travellers revealed that they had been at the terminal since 5 o’clock am on Friday. They were hoping to arrive in time for the polls set to open at 7am on December 7.
In Kumasi, the story was no different. Politicians had reportedly hired buses to transport party faithful and supporters to specific locations, leaving a high demand for transport heading to places like Bawku and other parts of the Bono Region.
At the Nana Agyeman Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, airlines disclosed that tickets to and from Accra had been sold out.
The airport also received international passengers for the first time as travellers from London arrived to cast their ballot. They expressed joy at the opportunity to make the trip to participate in the electoral process tomorrow.
