The Chiefs of Ajumako have strongly warned against violence in the constituency during the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.
The Chiefs claimed that outsiders are often brought in to cause chaos and tarnish their image.
In an interview with GHOne TV, the Chiefs cautioned politicians against deploying soldiers to intimidate voters, emphasising that the constituency is well-prepared to counter any violent plots.
The Chiefs also expressed frustration with politicians who they believe have neglected the Ajumako Constituency in terms of developmental projects.
They stated that despite the lack of investment in their area, politicians still expect their votes during election time.
The Chiefs emphasised that they will not tolerate any form of violence or intimidation, urging politicians to allow the people to decide without interference.
“We have nothing to show here, yet they pop up to campaign during election time, expecting us to vote for them. Projects that started here were never completed by those who initiated them, nor were they continued by those who took over.”
“They bring people to misbehave here. This time around, whether you’ve been sponsored or you are a soldier, we will not tolerate anyone coming here to tarnish our town’s image. Soldiers are not meant for elections, so if you are in government and you think you have worked hard, allow the people to decide without any form of intimidation. It is our peace that we want. If you have not been fair to Ajumako, we do not expect you to bring anyone here to misbehave. Irrespective of who you are, if you try to bring disorder here, we and our people promise to deal with you,” the Chiefs stated.
They also reflected on past incidents, saying, “We saw what happened during the registration in 2016 and the elections in 2020, but in 2024, no way. They tend to come and disgrace us during these periods and leave afterward without any projects. If you think you have soldiers or whatever, take them to your hometown to protect your votes. Over here, we are very secure.”
