Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has issued an administrative directives to Courts assigned to hear Parliamentary Election petitions to sit Saturdays and holidays for expedited hearings.
Additionally, the CJ has also directed a 12-hour operation of registries of Courts where there is a filing of a parliamentary election petition from 8am to 8pm.
According the administrative directives dated December 20, 2024, all High Courts hearing Parliamentary Election Petitions are to sit on Saturdays and holidays depending on proceedings and orders of the Presiding judge.
The directive according to the Chief Justice takes effect from Monday, December 23, 2024.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTION FILING AND SERVICE OF ELECTIONRELATED PROCESSES
In pursuance of the powers conferred on me under Article 125(4) of the 1992 Constitution, and Order 79 Rule 1(1), and Rule 3(2) and Order 52 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2004 C.. 47.
I Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana hereby make the tollowing directions for the purposes of the expeditious determination of Parliamentary Election disputes and other related matters.
i).All High Court Registries and all Registries where any Parliamentary election petiton or other election related matter shall be filed shall
thereatter remain open between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm on Saturdays and Public Holidays.
ii).All Superior Court Judges who shall be assigned any Parliamentary dispute or related matter, shall have the power to sit on Saturdays and Public Holidays, as in the discretion of the judge may be necessary for
the expeditious disposal of the case.
iii). Order 7 of C.I. 47 as amended by Rule 3A ot High Court (Civil Procedure) (Amendment) Rules, 2019 C.I. 122 on Electronic Service of
Process shall be utilised by all court staff in the service of process provided always that parties shall indicate their consent to electronic service by providing their email address and/or WhatsApp numbers.
This directive takes effect from Monday, 23r December 2024.
This Administrative wirection supersedes the directive earlier issued which Was erroneously dated 20th December 2025.
