The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is urging candidates due to sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to respect the rules and regulations governing the examination.
In a press statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, J. K Kapi, the council warned that it will take on any person found to have breached its rules.
WAEC called on all key stakeholders including school heads and examination offers to comply with regulations which it disclosed, was available on its online portal.
Among others, the new regulations prohibit having inscriptions on any part of the body or clothing, posting live questions online and refusal to grant access into school premises.

“The revised rules are available on the Council’s website and Heads of school, supervisors and invigilators, should ensure that candidates adhere to these new rules.
“While we wish all the candidates success in their examination, we wish to admonish them to strictly adhere to the rules governing the examination. Any attempt to breach any of these rules will have dire candidates on the candidates,” the statement read.
According to the Council, a total number of 603,328 candidates have registered for the examination, a figure about 6% higher than the figure last year. WAEC has also approved 2,237 centers for this year’s exam.
The BECE will start on Wednesday 11th June and end on 18th June, 2025.
