Nineteen individuals have been arrested in connection with illicit drug trafficking and robbery activities at the Dominase Onion Market and surrounding areas in the Central Region, the Ghana Police Service has announced.
In a statement issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Central East Regional Police Command, the arrests were made during a special operation on June 12, 2025.
The operation targeted criminal activity in the Kasoa Dominase enclave and the Onion market, both of which have become hotspots for illegal trade and theft.

The suspects apprehended include: Abubakari Ibrahim, Mohammed Awal, Shafiu Salisu, Hamza Amadu, Ali Adamu, Balhani Fuseini, Jamal Haruna, Zakari Abdulai, Abdul Aziz, Bera Kalidu, Moro Baki, Anthony Lucky, Razak Yussif, Sumani Issah, Sulley Mohammed, Abdul Salifu, Eliasu Bukari, Kamelo Muuk, and Osumanu Amadu.

According to the police, substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered, along with controlled pharmaceutical drugs including Tramadol and “Red,” a known street drug.

All suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say the individuals will be processed and brought before court in due time.
The regional command praised the officers involved in the operation and urged them to continue their efforts against criminal networks. DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, also called on the public to provide relevant information to aid police in curbing drug abuse, trafficking, and related crimes.
“The Central East Regional Police Command entreats the public to provide relevant information to assist in its continued efforts to clamp down on the menace,” the statement read.
Investigations are ongoing.
