Leading member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has called on political parties in Ghana to move beyond propaganda and engage in politics rooted in values, programmes, and ideology.
Speaking on Starr FM’s The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, July 22, Mr Owusu lamented the growing decline in meaningful political discourse and urged parties to shift focus from personal attacks to policy-driven engagement.
“Politics of ideas, politics of programmes and policies, it seems to me that we’re losing that,” he said. “We’re not speaking policy, we’re not speaking ideology; we are only majoring in minus, on things that are not relevant.”
He criticised opposition elements who resort to criticism merely for political gain, regardless of merit or context.
“Not because you want to become the next government you must at all cost criticise when there is nothing,” he said, insisting that principled opposition is vital for a healthy democracy.

Mr Owusu stressed that Ghana’s development depends on responsible and constructive political engagement, not partisan point-scoring. He also affirmed his unwavering support for Alan Kyerematen and announced that the Movement for Change would soon launch its political party formally.
