The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ghana’s Ministry of Health, Mr. Isaac Ofei Baah, has been enstooled and Outdoored as the first Divisional Chief of Asesewa under Manya Krobo Traditional Area in Eastern Region.
He now holds the stool name Nene Ofei Tagbaja.
The colourful traditional ceremony held in Asesewa saw awesome display of Krobo culture, drumming, dancing and musketery. It attracted large crowd of residents, guests, chiefs and queen mothers as well as government officials.
Nene Ofei Tagbaja succeeds his late Uncle, Ofei Bosso, who reigned for 34 years before his passing in 1956. The community has since been ruled by regents.
The installation makes him the first Divisional Chief of Asesewa following the town’s elevation to divisional status by Konor of Manya Krobo Nene Sakite III.
The newly installed Chief, a staff of the Information Services Department and a seasoned Public Relations practitioner, has been widely accepted by the people and hailed as a unifier and a visionary traditional leader with competence to mobilize resources to develop the Asesewa traditional area which has about hundred communities under it jurisdiction.

Konor of Manya Krobo Nene Sakite II stated that chieftaincy has evolved from era of conquering territories through wars to conquering poverty through developmental interventions.
He expressed confidence in the newly enstoooed divisional Chief of spearheading initiatives that will eleviate poverty in the area.
Speaking at the event, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, commended the kingmakers and the people of Asesewa for the peaceful and dignified enstoolment process.
She described the theme of the occasion, “Uniting the People for Sustainable Development,” as timely and in line with the national development agenda.
“your leadership be one that draws people together, inspires community-driven initiatives, and serves as a bridge between the past and the promise of tomorrow. Government remains committed to supporting local development through decentralisation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and agriculture modernization.” Eastern Regional Minister said.
She urged Nene Ofei Tagbaja to be a unifier and promote inclusive development, and called on the community to support their new leader in his vision to uplift Asesewa.
“But development cannot and must not be government’s task alone. Our communities must take ownership, and that is where the leadership of traditional authorities becomes critical”.
The Minister also reaffirmed government’s commitment to decentralization, infrastructure growth, youth empowerment, and agricultural modernization.
Nene Ofei Tagbaja enumerated many challenges confronting the people of Asesewa with emphasis on reconstruction of the popular Asesewa market.
He called on all natives of Asesewa and its surrounding communities to return home to support developmental initiatives.
The Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko reiterated commitment to partner with traditional leaders to fix developmental challenges confronting the constituency.
