The Chiefs and youth of Birim Central Municipality have issued a stern warning to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda Constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, to desist from attempts to undermine and sabotage the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Solomon Kusi Brako, or face their wrath.

According to them, the MP’s alleged actions are hampering unity and development efforts within the municipality.
The youth and traditional authorities accused the MP of engaging in a deliberate campaign to tarnish the image of the MCE, following his appointment.
They claim the MP has made several unsubstantiated allegations against the MCE, including accusing him of promoting illegal mining (galamsey) in the municipality, a claim they described as false and mischievous.
Recently, reports surfaced alleging that the MCE had accepted a GH₵15,000 bribe from illegal miners. However, both the Assembly and the MCE have refuted the allegations, clarifying that the amount in question was a legitimate business operating permit fee paid into the Assembly’s account with receipts issued to miners working under the Akwatia GCD tributary mining system.
On Thursday, a group calling itself the Birim Central Youth Association, led by its Convener, Kingsley Adofo, staged a protest against what they described as the MP’s “destructive political agenda.”
According to the youth, the MCE, one of the youngest appointed in the current government, has proven his competence and leadership since assuming office, tackling key challenges such as illegal mining, sanitation by clearing a decades old dumping site and dealing with the Oda market allocation challenges.
“We want the Honourable Solomon Kusi Brako to concentrate on the good work he’s doing for the people of Akim Oda Let the MP focus on his responsibility.
People of Oda voted for him to bring development for us, not to go running from one radio station, one station, to spread falsehood. We have explained, the Honourable Sore Mokuse Brako and the Municipal Assembly has explained the issue, and no one who wants the facts will further go out to spread the falsehood. Little thing, he ran on radio stations to spread falsehood, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. All what we know is that he’s afraid of the Hon Solomon Kusi Brako, but he should wait for the 2028 to come, so we all battle it out”. Said Kingsley Adofo.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area have also expressed concern over the MP’s conduct.
Speaking on behalf of the council, the Akyem Kotoku Krontihene, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyere, accused the MP of previously making similar unfounded allegations against the Kotomanhene and some other chiefs, claiming they were involved in illegal mining.

Obrempong Gyamfi cautioned that such divisive behavior would not be tolerated, warning that the MP risks losing his political seat after his term if he continues to disrespect traditional authority and undermine local leadership.
Some of the youth observed that because Oda is one of the NPPs strongholds, anytime NDC government assumes power, NPP MPs becomes uncomfortable hence sabotage MCEs in the area.
